What is 'Reborning'?
Reborning is the process of removing all hair and paint from a factory produced doll, then adding new hair and paint to create a far more realistic appearance.
Another term, 'Newborning' is used when the doll is created from untreated silicone or vinyl parts. A third term has popped up, "Fake babies", after a tv documentory was aired in the UK. The fake baby term would hardly be used by reborners, as it has a negative association. Most StorkArt dolls are newborns but we stick with the term reborns.
Reborning is an emerging art form which started about 2001.
Techniques are constantly improving and I strive to create the most lifelike dolls available.
